Day 1 Johannesburg
On arrival transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore or perhaps take an optional tour.

Day 2 Pretoria/Mpumalanga
Leave Johannesburg behind and head for South Africa’s capital city, Pretoria. Explore the cultural transformation of this nation at the Voortrekker Monument before a visit to the world famous Premier Diamond Mines. After lunch the terrain changes as you travel to Mpumalanga, dropping several hundred feet into the lush subtropical

Day 3 Kruger National Park
See where gold was first discovered at the old mining village of Pilgrim’s Rest. At God’s Window, marvel at the splendid views of jagged mountain peaks and fertile plains. A visit to Blyde River Canyon – one of Africa’s natural wonders is also on the agenda. Arrival into the Kruger is timed to coincide with sundowners in the Bushveld. (BD)

Day 4 Big Five Game Viewing
Kruger National Park Depart as the lilac streaks of dawn start to light the sky in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard. (B)

Day 5 The Kingdom of Swaziland
This tiny kingdom is a former British Protection Territory and now ruled by King MsWati III. See master craftsmen of Ngwenya Glass at work before continuing on to the capital city Mbabane, renowned for its colourful markets crammed with beadwork,
carving and woven baskets. (BLD)

Day 6 The Kingdom of the Zulu’s
Pass endless vistas as you travel through Zululand to St Lucia, a World Heritage Site and home to 367 species of birdlife as well as hippo and crocodile. (B)

Day 7 Durban
Enjoy a cruise on Lake St Lucia before departing for Durban. Your route hugs the lush KwaZulu-Natal coastline edged with field after field of sugarcane rippling in the wind. (B)

Day 8 Port Elizabeth/Knysna
A morning at leisure before a mid morning flight to Port Elizabeth. Upon arrival travel through the glorious Tsitsikamma Forest to Knysna set in the heart of the famous Garden Route. (BD)

Day 9 Knysna
Enjoy a cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon and visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve. See the imposing sandstone ‘heads’ which stand guard at the sea entrance to Knysna’s huge tidal lagoon. (BL)

Day 10 Oudtshoorn
Enroute to Oudtshoorn witness the spectacular view of the Outeniqua Pass. After lunch, learn more about the enigmatic, hardy Ostrich from which Oudtshoorn ‘feather capital of the world’ gets its name. An underground tour of the Cango Caves, one of South Africa’s most incredible natural wonders is included later this afternoon. (BL)

Day 11 Cape Town
A day of ever changing vistas as you continue on to the sparkling
waterfront city of Cape Town. During whale season (July to November) the tour travels via the seaside village of Hermanus in the hope of glimpsing these remarkable mammals as they frolic offshore. At all other times travel is via Route 62 – the African equivalent of the USA’s Route 66. (B)

Day 12 Cape Peninsula
Tour the ruggedly beautiful Cape Peninsula via the Atlantic seaboard. Stop at the fishing village of Hout Bay then continue on to Cape Point Nature Reserve before seeing the enchanting penguins at Boulders Beach. (B)

Day 13 Cape Winelands
Travel into the beautiful and tranquil Winelands. Visit Paarl and the university town of Stellenbosch before enjoying a wine tasting at two well known wine estates. (B)

Day 14 Cape Town
Today is the end of your South African experience. Transfer back to the
airport for your homeward flight or perhaps extend your stay. (B)
