Situated in the Greater Addo area of the Eastern Cape, Amakhala is the malaria-free Game Reserve just 45 minutes north-east of Port Elizabeth. At Amakhala you can experience the delights of the African bushveld while on safari, bushwalk, river cruise or simply with a glass of wine from the veranda of your lodge. There are six independently owned lodges offering various styles of accommodation including two gracious colonial homesteads, two classic bush lodges, an historic inn and a Settler farmhouse. Whilst at Amakhala all meals and 2 daily reserve activities are included.
Environmental Awareness The Amakhala Conservation Centre has three main objectives: • to promote environmental awareness and impart knowledge of the environmental, economic and cultural importance of wildlife, wild areas and the functioning of natural ecosystems. • to identify and support research projects that provide ecological and social information relevant to the management of the reserve and to wildlife conservation in general. • to encourage and advise on various conservation projects which will ensure the conservation of biodiversity and functioning of ecological systems.
In addition Amakhala have also set up the 3C project. It’s objective is to remove CARBON, involve COMMUNITIES and increase CONSERVATION efforts in the Eastern Cape through a tree planting programme. |
