The best time to visit is from November to March/April when the weather is at its best. Many regard March to May as the perfect season, when the nagging winds drop and it's beautifully mild.

The winelands have a so-called Mediterranean climate, moderated by winds blowing in from the South Atlantic. Summers tend to be warm, mild and unpredictable; rain can fall at any time of the year and winter days of July and August can be windy, cold and wet.
