Safaris > Kafue's Rivers and Plains 8 Day Safari

A discoverers exploration set in the Kafue National Park. A pristine wilderness area home to an impressive array of game including lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, buffalo and hippo.

Days 1-3 Northern Kafue
On arrival in Lusaka you will be met and transferred by light aircraft to Kafue National Park and on to Lufupa Camp. The camp comprises 6 large Meru tents with en-suite facilities. The true beauty of the Kafue National Park is revealed as you begin your exploration of the floodplains, woodland and open grassy plains. Resident prides of lion and leopard are frequently seen, wild dogs are occasionally spotted and hippos are always lazing in the cool waters of the Kafue River in front of the camp. Zebra, buffalo, impala and elephant are often seen roaming the plains.
3 nights Lufupa Camp. (All Inclusive)

Days 4-6 Busanga Floodplain
Depart early this morning for a game drive/transfer to the northwestern Kafue. Deep inside the wildlife haven of the Busanga Plains, the Musanza camp offers 4 tents with 180° views of the spectacular wildlife that roams the region. The main dining area and bar is set under a majestic canopy of trees and the simple bush style of this camp creates the perfect atmosphere. Buffalo, bushbuck, kudu and reedbuck are often seen in the enormous open plains. Lion and cheetah are the main predators although spotted hyaena and wild dogs are occasionally seen. Leopard and elephant may be spied along the wooded tree lines fringing the plains.
3 nights Musanza Tented Camp. (All Inclusive)

Day 7 Lunga River
Depart on a shortened game drive through the Busanga Plains to Lunga River. Located on a raised bank of the river, the 6 thatched chalets of the Lunga River Lodge share a beautiful vantage point over the meandering channel of the river. Deep and clear, the Lunga River is the largest tributary of the Kafue River and draws a variety of wildlife to its shores including puku and impala, buffalo, elephant and leopard. Yellow baboons are often spotted in the vicinity of the camp and the river boasts a high density population of hippo. Activities at the lodge include game drives, walking safaris, guided canoe and boating trips and fishing.
Overnight Lunga River Lodge. (All Inclusive)

Day 8 Kafue National Park/Lusaka
Depart on an early morning light aircraft transfer to Lusaka Airport and the end of the tour.
