The sandstone outcrops of Mount Borradaile are honeycombed with caves that have been occupied by the Aboriginals for over 50,000 years. The thousands of rock painting galleries make this one of the richest and most powerful sites for Aboriginal culture in Australia.
Day 1:
Depart Darwin for a scenic flight over Kakadu National Park to Mount Borradaile. This is an exclusive remote safari camp on the outskirts of the Arnhem Land escarpment. Visit Rock art sites and take a sunset cruise on a billabong – watch out for crocodiles! 2 nights: Mount Borradaile (LD).
Day 2:
Learn about traditional beliefs and how the Aboriginals use their environment in their everyday living. This afternoon, swim in one of the many deserted billabongs or try barramundi fishing (BLD).
Day 3:
Bring your binoculars and camera as you walk through this distinctive ecosystem and see some of the 275 bird species that inhabit the area. Return to camp for lunch before your afternoon flight back to Darwin (BL).
