If you prefer to live like a local than feel like a tourist, Trinity Beach is perfect for the start of your Queensland journey and the perfect base from which to explore.
Just twenty minutes north of Cairns this little beachfront suburb offers a couple of great restaurants and cafés, a beautiful beach and a relaxed atmosphere.
The lively town of Port Douglas is less than an hour north while attractions such as Cairns Zoo, Hartley's Crocodile Adventures and Kuranda are even closer. From here, it's a leisurely two hour drive south to Mission Beach, where you'll stay for a couple of nights at Castaways before heading up into the cool air of the Atherton Tablelands.
Highlights on the way include the much-photographed Millaa Millaa Falls, Mena Creek Falls, Paronella Park and the Mamu Canopy Walkway. The landscapes of the 'tablelands' are more akin to rural Devon than outback Australia and instead of parched landscapes and bounding kangaroos you'll find rolling fields, roadside stalls overflowing with fresh produce, tropical forests filled with birdsong and huge glistening lakes enticing you for a swim.
There are kangaroos - but the ones here live in trees! Staying at Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat means sleeping in one of nine pole and timber tree houses set in the rainforest giving you a bird's eye view of the abundant bird and wildlife.
Includes 3 nights at Blue Lagoon, Trinity Beach, Kuranda & Tjapukai Tour, 2 nights at Castaways Mission Beach, 2 nights at Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat, full day Outer Barrier Reef Cruise with Quicksilver and 8 days car rental.
Also includes private transfers, all pre-payable taxes and international return economy flights with Qantas from London Heathrow to Sydney via Bangkok. Flights operated by British Airways between London and Bangkok.
Valid for departures 16 April - 20 June 2012.
Offer ends 19 January 2012 unless sold out prior. Limited availability.
