Adelaide is rare if not unique in Australia as its citizens did not
come from the usual convict stock but were attracted by the possibility
of wealth from wool, copper and wheat.Their legacy can be seen along
the North Terrace where you’ll find the South Australian Museum, Art
Gallery and the Casino in the beautifully restored 1920’s railway
station. The city, surrounded by parkland, is very compact and the
majority of the impressive wide streets, colonial buildings, mansions
and more modest workers cottages remain. For shops visit Rundle Mall,
and for your chance to see work from local artists, Rundle Street, but
to really get the feel of this multicultural city, you have to go to
the 125 year old Central Market.
