Days 1 and 2 Hobart
Try and plan your arrival into Hobart for a Friday leaving Saturday free to browse the colourful stalls of the Salamanca Market. Try some of the fabulous seafood and explore the surrounding area.

Day 3 Strahan (300 km)
As you head to the west coast and Strahan your drive will take you through the historic town of New Norfolk home to Australia's oldest Anglican church and the Oast House museum. Explore Lake St Clair, the deepest freshwater lake. Carry on to Queenstown, see the West Coast Wilderness railway built in the 1890`s linking the town to Strahan then continue onwards to Strahan itself.

Day 4 Strahan
This pretty little town is the perfect base to discover outstanding beauty of the region. A cruise will take you out to Hells Gate, the narrow harbour mouth, tiny Sarah Island a penal settlement established in 1822 and up the magnificent rainforest-shrouded banks of the Gordon River.
Day 5 Cradle Mountain (147 kms)
The most famous and indeed most beautiful of Tasmania's mountains - Cradle Mountain, is your destination today. Set in a narrow ridge of jagged peaks and often wearing a mantle of cloud the area offers glacial lakes, alpine moorland and forested valleys with some of the most spectacular wilderness walking in the world.

Day 6 Cradle Mountain
The Dove Lake Circuit takes around 2 hours, stays close to the lake and when the mountain is visible and the lake unruffled, is an impossibly beautiful walk to do. For the best views follow the trail to Hansons Peak or Marions Lookout both on the western side of the lake.
Day 7 Launceston (148 kms)
Driving north you will pass through Sheffield, known as the `town of Murals` and the Tamar Valley, home to some wonderful cool climate wines is with easy reach of Launceston.

Day 8 Freycinet National Park (135 kms)
A drive through gentle pastures and winding mountain roads will bring you to Coles Bay on the Freycinet Peninsula. Enroute pay a visit to Pipers Brook winery, one of the most advanced in the country and a leading producer of cool climate wines.
2 nights: Meredith House
Day 9 - Freycinet National Park
This national park is a haven for wildlife and the park's lush vegetation is made up of wetland, coastal dunes dry eucalypt forest. Take a walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout or just relax and enjoy the tranquillity of your surroundings.
Day 10 Port Arthur (150 kms)
Head south again following the east coast, perhaps stop at Kate's Berry Farm for a taste extravaganza before continuing on to the historic site of Port Arthur.

Day 11 Richmond (82 kms)
The ruins at Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula are a symbolic reminder of its convict past and have been conserved as an impressive historic site. You should allow at least ˝ a day to explore before heading back to Richmond and the Millhouse on the Bridge, a real treat for your final night in Tasmania.
