Day 1: Sydney to Jervis Bay
Head south through Wollongong and the Illawarra to Jervis Bay. The drive is sensational with a mountain escarpment that drops dramatically to the ocean. See the hang gliders at Stanwell Tops and the famous Kiama Blowhole.
Overnight: Paperbark Camp including breakfast.
Day 2: Jervis Bay to Tilba Tilba
Before leaving Jervis Bay perhaps take a morning cruise to spot the resident dolphin population. Tilba Tilba is a wonderful village and great place to browse through some of the best craft shops in the area.
Overnight: Bimbimbi House including breakfast.
Days 3 and 4: Tilba Tilba to Mallacoota
It’s worth rising early for a 4WD tour to the sacred site of Gulaga (Mt Dromedary). Perhaps stop for a picnic and a swim in the lagoons of the Mimosa Rocks National Park before crossing the state border into Victoria. Gipsy Point sits on the banks of Mallacoota Inlet in the heart of the stunning Croajingalong National Park and you have a free day to explore.
2 nights: Gipsy Point Lakeside including breakfast hamper.
Day 5: Mallacoota to Metung
If you plan your arrival into Metung for mid afternoon you should have time for a cruise around Australia’s largest inland waterway, the Gippsland Lakes. This region is filled with colourful fishing villages, the turquoise waters of lakes and rivers, isolated beaches and rugged coastal outcrops.
Overnight: Chestnut Hill Country Retreat including breakfast.
Day 6: Metung to Phillip Island Phillip
Island is a wildlife and nature lover’s paradise. Share a beach with hungry pelicans, see a colony of fur seals splashing in the sun and walk with the little penguins that emerge from the sea at dusk.
Overnight: Glen Isla House including breakfast.
Day 7: Phillip Island to Melbourne
Leave the delights of Phillip Island behind and carry onto Melbourne.
