The Great Ocean Road is regarded as one of the world’s most spectacular coastal drives.
Along its 106 kilometres the road passes quiet bays and beaches, gorges, blowholes and rain forests. One of its most beautiful stretches is around Apollo Bay with its crescent shaped beach and backdrop of Otway hills. Port Fairy, once known as Belfast due to its large number of Irish immigrants, is an historic fishing village noted for its charming cottages, old stone churches and inns. A good way to see them is on the Heritage Walk where many of the buildings are classified by the National Trust.
