Explore the natural beauty and dramatic seascapes of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island on this 20 day self drive.

Days 1-2 - Halifax
Welcome to Nova Scotia’s provincial capital, this attractive city is a bustling hub of art galleries, shops, museums, restaurants, street cafes and vibrant nightlife much of it centered around the picturesque waterfront. Enjoy a morning city tour and take in the sights of Citadel Hill, Halifax Harbour, Historic Properties, Bedford Basin, Point Pleasant Park and much more. There is an afternoon at leisure to explore the city further. Visit one of the excellent nearby malls, enjoy a Harbour tour or take the ferry over to the City of Dartmouth. A visit to the excellent Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is a must! See the unique collection of memorabilia collected after the tragic Titanic disaster.
2 nights Halifax

Day 3 - Halifax/Lunenburg
Depart Halifax and drive south along the Lighthouse Route. En route visit Peggy’s Cove, a picturesque fishing village surrounded by bare granite and coastal barrens and home to Nova Scotia’s most visited lighthouse. Further along the route you will arrive in Lunenburg, a unique town in terms of architecture and now an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunenburg is the birthplace of the famous Bluenose, built in 1921.

Day 4 - Lunenburg/Digby
Drive north along the Kejimkujik Scenic Drive via the Kejimkujik National Park, a spectacular inland National Park with walking trails to suit all levels and some of the best canoeing in Atlantic Canada. Continue on to Digby overlooking the broad Annapolis Basin and the ferry gateway to New Brunswick.

Day 5 - Digby/Saint John
Board the ferry, a crossing of approximately 3 hours to Saint John, New Brunswick. Saint John is New Brunswick’s largest city and is steeped in history with lots to see and do. Places to visit include Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site, the old city market, Loyalist House, the New Brunswick Museum and the Reversing Falls.

Day 6 - Saint John/St. Andrews
Depart Saint John and take a leisurely drive along the Fundy Coastal Drive – this dramatically scenic drive introduces you to the Bay of Fundy “One of the Marine Wonders of the World”. Arrive St. Andrews, one of Canada’s most beautiful seaside resorts.

Day 7 - St. Andrews
Enjoy a nature cruise departing from St. Andrews cruise through the narrow island passages of the Deer Island archipelago en route to the open Bay of Fundy. Expect to see in season, whales, porpoise, seals, seabirds and bald eagles.

Day 8 - St. Andrews/Fredericton
Depart St. Andrews and drive west to St. Stephen – the town where the first chocolate bar was invented and the gateway to the Fundy Coastal Drive. Continue north on the River Valley Scenic Drive on to Fredericton, New Brunswick’s picturesque capital city noted for its heritage and culture. Spend the afternoon at leisure.

Day 9 - Fredericton/Miramichi
Depart Fredericton and drive the Miramichi River Route on to Miramichi. The city of Miramichi is New Brunswick’s newest city and home to the famous Miramichi River – a world famous salmon fishing river. The city is made up of many unique shops, restaurants and heritage sites namely St. Michael’s Basilica and Lord Beaverbrook House to name a few.

Days 10-11 - Miramichi/Fundy National Park
Depart Miramichi on the Acadian Coastal Drive via the scenic Kouchibouguac National Park, a stunning display of beaches and sand dunes sweeping over 26 kilometres. Continue on this route, which takes you onto the eastern gateway of the Fundy Coastal Drive. Enroute to the Fundy National Park visit the spectacular Hopewell Rocks where you can walk on the ocean floor and witness the highest tides in the world. The Fundy National Park has 206 square kilometres of steep coastal cliffs, forest clad hills, deep rich valleys and rolling meadows.
2 nights Fundy National Park

Day 12 - Fundy National Park/Summerside
Depart Fundy National Park and drive back along the Fundy Coastal Drive via Sackville and Port Elgin and onto the Confederation Bridge. The Confederation Bridge was completed in 1997 and provides a direct link across the water from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island. On arrival into P.E.I. head for Summerside, although one of the newest cities in Canada, Summerside boasts a rich heritage. The stately homes that grace the downtown residential core were once home to many a wealthy shipbuilder and Spinnakers Landing on the waterfront brings the shipbuilding era alive once more.

Day 13 - Summerside/Brackley Beach
Depart Summerside and continue onto the Green Gables Shore. Take time to visit Kensington and the old stone railway station –a National Historic Site and then continue on to Indian River to view the dramatic church of St. Mary. Also visit Cavendish - home ofAnne of Green Gables and the Village of Avonlea.

Day 14 - Brackley Beach/Charlottetown
Take time this morning to visit the scenic Prince Edward Island National Park before continuing along the Points East Coastal Drive, and on to Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island.

Day 15 - Charlottetown/Pictou
This morning explore the city of Charlottetown retracing the steps of the Fathers of Confederation. Depart Charlottetown and drive southeast through the Points East Coastal Drive, en route visit the Point Prim Lighthouse before continuing on to the Wood Islands ferry terminal. Board the NFL Ferry, a crossing of approximately 75 minutes, which takes you over to Caribou, Nova Scotia (payable locally).

Days 16- 17 - Pictou/Baddeck
Depart Pictou heading east to Cape Breton via the Canso Causeway and continue on to Baddeck. This scenic village overlooks the beautiful Bras d’Or Lakes and the most notable resident historically was Alexander Graham Bell - you can visit the National Historic Site named after him. Follow the famous Cabot Trail, one of the most spectacular drives in all of Canada. The trail winds around the rocky splendor of Cape Breton’s northern shore, ascending to the incredible plateaus of Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
2 nights Baddeck

Day 18 - Baddeck/ Louisbourg
Depart Baddeck via Glace Bay, home of the Miners Museum and Marconi National Historical Site. Glace Bay is the beginning of the Marconi Trail, named after Guglielmo Marconi the Italian inventor who sent the first transatlantic wireless message from here. Follow the trail to Louisbourg, home to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, the largest historical reconstruction in North America.

Day 19 - Louisbourg/Liscomb Mills
From Louisbourg continue along the Fleur-de-Lis Trail following the coastal route to St. Peter’s, where you will join the Bras d’Or Lakes Trail. Cross the Canso Causeway and continue along the Marine Drive.  A visit to Sherbrooke Village is a must – this living history museum is a re-enactment of village life in old Nova Scotia.

Day 20 - Liscomb Mills/Halifax
Depart Liscomb Mills and take a leisurely drive back to Halifax. En route visit Musquodoboit Harbour & Valley –a haven for nature lovers, and Martinique Beach –the longest beach in the province. Drop off your rental car at Halifax Airport on arrival.
