Explore the spectacular Yukon wilderness with this soft adventure tour. Experience the beauty of the region with a wide variety of outdoor activities and take a ride on the historic White Pass & Yukon Railroad.
Day 1: Whitehorse
On arrival, transfer by road through the scenic Southern Lakes region to Skagway, gateway to the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. After a short look around, you’ll board the White Pass Railroad for a scenic, narrated tour over the 1200m White Pass. At the Canadian Customs house, rejoin your tour vehicle for the transfer to the Homestead where your accommodation is private cabins on a 40 acres, just south of Whitehorse. Evening is free to explore the area trails, and get to know your fellow guests over dinner.
Day 2: Heli Hiking
Take a helicopter flight into nearby Ibex Valley. Enjoy a great day hike from Mt. Ingram Summit, views of Dalls Sheep grazing on wildflowers and grasses are possible as you make your way down to the base camp. At this private and remote Ibex Valley base camp, you will stay in Mongolian style yurt accommodations equipped with modern comforts where the sleeping yurts have twin beds, main yurt has dining table, lounge area and kitchen.
Day 3: Hiking in Ibex Valley
Today, hike down to the Ibex Valley floor. Here follow game and animal trails of the local wolf pack and caribou herd, exploring the beaver dams and the pristine wilderness of this beautiful valley. Try your hand at fishing, or relax in your natural surroundings.
Day 4: 4WD Tour
After a full breakfast, hike north up the valley towards the trailhead where your 4WD vehicle will be waiting for the remainder of the trip home. This afternoon includes canoeing on Scout Lake. Tonight we will be back at the Homestead where a delicious dinner and the hot tub awaits.
Day 5: Canoeing
Today head west towards the Upper Takhini River. The river is crystal clear and moves at a speed that is easily mastered by novice paddlers as it winds its way through the mountains. There are opportunities to canoe rapids for those wishing to do so. This evening, return to the Homestead.
Day 6: Alpine 4X4 Tour
4WD tour to Coal Lake where the day will be spent hiking around the area in the high alpine.Watch for resident caribou foraging in the hills with the spotting scope and for those who wish to try their hand at catching Lake Trout, fishing gear is available.
Day 7: Mountain Biking or day tour to Kluane National Park
Choose from touring the Lower Ibex Valley by mountain bike, the 33km loop trail is rated as a moderate ride with 210 meters of total elevation gain. Alternatively, drive 90 minutes to Kluane National Park for an optional flightseeing tour over the St. Elias Icefields, the largest non-poplar fields in the world, and Mt. Logan, Canada’s tallest at 5959 meters. Afterwards, return toWhitehorse for the evening.
Day 8: Depart Whitehorse
Airport transfers are included this morning.
