Day 1 Chiang Mai - Mae Hong Sorn Leave
Chiang Mai and head through the verdant, mountainous interior towards
the sleepy village of Mae Hong Sorn. Enroute, stop at the Orchid and
Butterfly Farm in Mae Rim, enjoy a picnic lunch and visit caves, where
it is said a mountain spirit protects the aquatic life. On arrival in
Mae Hong Sorn, acquaint yourself with the local hill tribes as you
explore the local market. Overnight Mae Hong Sorn. (L,D)
Day 2 Mae Hong Sorn This
morning explore the jungle by elephant before venturing further to the
home of the Long Neck Karens, where the brass coils worn around the
women’s necks symbolise wealth. After a visit to their colourful
village, enjoy a boat trip along the River Pai before returning to Mae
Hong Sorn. Overnight Mae Hong Sorn. (B,L,D)
Day 3 Mae Hong Sorn - Chiang Mai Bear
witness to the Buddhist tradition of alms giving to the local monks as
you visit the early morning market. Travel to the lakeside Burmese
temples ofWat Jong Kam and Wat Jon Klang and see stunning views from
Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kongmoo, set on a mountain top and considered one of
the most important temples. Return to Chiang Mai on an afternoon
flight and tonight savour traditional Thai cuisine, folk stories and
hill tribe dances as you are treated to a ceremonial Kantoke. Overnight Chiang Mai. (B,L,D)
Day 4 Chiang Mai Reward
yourself with spectacular views of Chiang Mai as you climb the 290
steps to the hilltop temple ofWat Phrathat Doi Suthep, for the less
energetic a cable car offers an easier route to the top! After lunch,
discover Sankampaeng, home to Chiang Mai’s famous cottage industries.
See the artisans at work as they create an array of intricate and
colourful fares offering the perfect souvenir buying opportunity. Overnight Chiang Mai. (B,L,D)
Day 5 Chiang Mai - GoldenTriangle Depart
Chiang Mai and stop at the hot springs in Mae Ka Chan before continuing
through the spectacular mountain scenery and tropical jungle to the
‘Rose of the North’ - Chiang Rai. After lunch, traverse the narrow
mountain roads as you visit colourful hill tribe villages and Doi
Mae Salong, a Chinese settlement where some interesting herbal
medicines are on sale! Overnight GoldenTriangle. (B,L,D)
Day 6 GoldenTriangle Mae SaiBrowse
the local market for local handicrafts in Mai Sai, on the Burmese
border, you may even have the opportunity to cross the border and take
a rickshaw ride. After a stop at Chiang Saen head for the heart of the
Golden Triangle where the Ruak and Mekong Rivers meet, offering
stunning views to Thailand, Laos and Burma. An optional boat trip allows even closer proximity to Burma and Laos. Overnight GoldenTriangle. (B,L,D)
Day 7 Chiang Rai Time to say goodbye to this amazing region as your tour comes to an end.
