Siem Reap and Angkor
12 Day/11 Night Journey

Private Guided Journey - Phnom Penh - Stung Treng - Banlung - Kratie - Kompong Cham - Siem Reap - Angkor - Tonle Sap - Siem Reap

There is so much more to Cambodia than Angkor Wat and Phnom Penh. Get off the beaten track to some of Cambodia's more remote and dramatic areas. From lush scenery and friendly smiles to a wealth of archaeological sites, culminating with the Angkor complex.

Day 1 Phnom Penh
Arrive in the capital and visit Phnom Penh's main attractions including the National Museum, the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. (L)

Day 2 Phnom Penh
Explore this ever changing metropolis, taking in Wat Phnom and the Russian Market as well as the Tuol Sleng Museum and the poignant Killing Fields. Today is a day that looks back into the past and forwards into the future of
these enchanting people. (B,L)

Day 3 Phnom Penh - StungTreng
Transfer to Stung Treng and take a boat ride out to Thala Bariwatt historical site. Stung Treng marks Cambodia’s northern border with Laos and the point where the Mekong River enters Cambodia. Originally a part of Laos, Stung Treng switched to Cambodian ownership during the French period and to this day you hear Lao spoken in town. (B,L)

Day 4 StungTreng - Banlung
Today drive to Banlung, capital of Ratanakiri Province. There is chance to swim in Boeng Yeak Lom Lake before heading to Cha OngWaterfall. At the end of the day climb Eisey Pak Ta Mak mountain to admire the sunset. (B,L)

Day 5 Banlung
Today drive to Ven Sai village to meet some ethnic minority groups. Afterwards visit Ka ChanhWaterfall. (B)

Day 6 Banlung - StungTreng - Kratie
This morning transfer via Stung Treng to Kratie and take a boat to see the endangered fresh water Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong River. As few as 80 dolphins remain and while there are ongoing and comprehensive conservation projects underway, dolphin mortality remains high. Dolphins aside, Kratie province is known for its untouched riverside scenery, quaint villages and rice paddies and for some of the best Mekong sunsets in the country. (B)

Day 7 Kratie - Kompong Cham
En route to Kompong Cham, stop at a rubber plantation and the historical hill temples of Phnom Srei and Phnom Pros. Kompong Cham is perhaps gateway to the real Cambodia - a land of fishing communities, pretty wats and picturesque villages. (B)

Day 8 Kompong Cham - Siem Reap
Before arrival in Siem Reap, explore Sambor Prei Kuk Temple Group, an important cultural and historical site and one rarely visited by tourists. (B,L)

Day 9 Angkor Complex
Prepare to be stunned as you start your exploration of the magnificent and utterly awe inspiring Angkor Complex, beginning with Angkor Thom. This afternoon enter the temple of AngkorWat and see sunset from Phnom Bakheng. (B,L)

Day 10 Angkor Complex
Continue your discovery of the Angkor Complex with Banteay Srei, Ta Prohm and Banteay Kdei temples. Later take in the “big circuit” containing Preah Kanh, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon and Pre Rup temples. Each temple is completely individual and captivating in its own right. (B,L)
