Tailor Made Travel has negotiated excellent rates with Budget Rent a Car who offer a comprehensive range of vehicles to suit every taste and pocket. Budget offer a large network of branches across the country including many of the airports and the Interislander ferry terminals inWellington and Picton.

Driving in New Zealand
Roads are well maintained and relatively uncrowded, although some can be winding and narrow so time should be allowed for journeys which may only look a short distance on the map. The majority of main roads are sealed however you will find that many backcountry roads have a gravel surface. Fuel is sold by the litre and petrol stations are plentiful although trading hours, particularly in rural areas, can vary. All Budget cars run on unleaded petrol while some of the 4WD vehicles are diesel. Strict speed limits and drink driving laws apply and random breath testing may be carried out.

Rental Age
All drivers must be 21 years old or over and hold a full current drivers license. There is no maximum age restriction and no charge for additional drivers.

Minimum Hire and One Way Rentals
The minimum rental for any Budget vehicle is three consecutive days. Budget offers a complete one way rental service between all locations. A one way fee of $50 plus GST applies to rentals of less than 7 days.

Insurance
Tailor Made Travel clients are covered by fully comprehensive insurance (subject to an excess). You are able to purchase the Budget Protection Package from $25 plus GST per day which reduces the excess to $225 plus GST and includes Personal Accident Insurance.

Complimentary Hotel Delivery
If your hotel is within a 10km radius of any budget location your vehicle may be delivered free of charge between the hours of 8.30am-4.00pm Monday to Friday. *Conditions may apply.

Roadside Assistance
Budget offers 24-hour roadside assistance throughout the country.

Bond/Deposit
A security bond/deposit of $150 is required at the start of the rental.

Fleet
The fleet offered by Budget is constantly updated and all vehicles are regularly serviced and maintained. Vehicles have an average age of 12 months and feature the latest products from Toyota, Mazda, Hyundai, Ford and Holden.

Inter Island Hire
If travelling on the Interislander between the North and South Island your vehicle is dropped at the relevant terminal and your onward vehicle collected at the other side.

GPS
Portable GPS units are available from certain locations at additional cost.
