3 Nights accommodation at The Masters Lodge - Napier

Situated on Napier's Historic Bluff Hill, The Masters Lodge represents the ultimate in elegance & luxury. Every room in the Lodge enjoys panoramic views of the South Pacific Ocean, CapeKidnappers, Te Mata Peak and the Marine Parade. Available to a maximum of four guests at a time, The Masters Lodge is a truly private and exclusive experience.

Day 1 (D)
Arrive at The Masters Lodge. Enjoy wandering through the house and see why The Masters Lodge has been awarded the prestigious Art Deco Merit Award and being named one of the "Five Best Art Deco Hotels" in the World by The Independent News UK, and "One of New Zealand's Top 10 Experiences" by New Zealand Travel Ltd.

Day 2 - Dinner with the Winemaker / Deco Experience Dinner (B,D)
A day free to explore Napier and surrounds. Hawkes Bay is a region of contrasts and offers something for everyone. The Art Deco heritage created after the devastating 1931 earthquake is fascinating to explore, while Maori history is rich and exciting. Food, art and wine trails meander right across the district. Attractions including the National Aquarium, Marineland and Splash Planet Water Park, while those wanting a slower pace can soak in Napier’s Ocean Spa hot pools, overlooking the Pacific. Long empty beaches and rugged ranges offer excellent walking and tramping opportunities.

Finish the day with either Dinner with the Winemaker or a Deco Experience Dinner.

Dinner with the Winemaker:
Enjoy a superb five-course dinner at the Lodge in the company of a local winemaker or estate owner. Hear the masters of viticulture talk about their passion and taste their award-winning wines carefully selected to complement your menu. We work closely with the winemaker to match the perfect dishes to accent the outstanding wines of the vintner. A unique opportunity!

Deco Experience Dinner:
The Masters Lodge is able to offer you a truly exclusive 'Deco Experience'. Hosted by world famous Art Deco Ambassador Clarence Bertram St. John Fitz Montague, aka 'Bertie', the evening combines a city tour by vintage car, dressing in Deco costume (optional) as well as pre-dinner cocktails in the Art Deco lounge, followed by a Gourmet Dinner with New Zealand wines at the Lodge with Bertie. A 'must' for all Deco enthusiasts!

Day 3 - Master Class Cooking Class (B,D)
COOKING CLASSES ARE VERY SPECIAL EVENTS AT THE MASTERS LODGE! Our classes are structured by you to meet your culinary desires! ABOUT Master Class:

Each class is composed of:
- A couple of hours in the morning exploring the food markets and other food sources in the Bay ... where the overwhelming majority of the Country's produce is grown ... and buying the ingredients for tonight's menu!
- Returning to the Lodge with the Chef to design the menu for that evening.
- Then coming back in the late afternoon, you will prepare five (5) courses using the ingredients acquired earlier in the day.
- And, finally, Dinner for Two with white tablecloth service of these fine dishes either on the Verandah or in the Dining Room. Or if you prefer, you can remain in the kitchen and finish the dishes with the Chef while eating the courses in the kitchen.
- Dinner also includes wine pairings selected by your Host and the Chef. You will have the opportunity to learn about New Zealand wines and how to pair wine with food.
- The daily schedule will allow you time to do other sightseeing in the Bay and enjoy time to yourselves.
- What follows are 3 suggested classes, but these are just suggestions! So, if you would prefer to focus on other types of food, you have just to let us know and we will make it happen. We can easily incorporate game birds, duck, wild pig, vegetarian, or specialty desserts. You can also include visits to a cheese producer, a microbrewery, or a winery or two.

1 -- Hawke's Bay Farmers Market
You will accompany our Chef Kylie Howard to the Hawke's Bay Farmers Market. You will be introduced to the producers and growers; have an opportunity to taste numerous local products; and, you will choose the meats, cheese, breads, fruits, & vegetables that you would like to cook. You will then work with the Chef to design a menu and prepare dishes incorporating these ingredients...working in the kitchen alongside the Chef from about 5:00pm until 7:30 pm. At that time, you will be able to retire to your suite to refresh yourselves before commencing dinner at approx. 8pm ... the dinner being served to you in our Dining Room or on the Verandah by candlelight.

2 -- South Pacific Ocean Harvest
You will accompany our Chef to various seaside locations to obtain fresh crayfish, baby paua, green-lipped mussels, oysters, eel, and other fish -- learning along the way about our fishing practices and the eco-issues New Zealand faces among the world's fishing industry in the South Pacific. You will then rejoin the Chef in our kitchen at approximately 5:00pm to prepare dishes from the day's seafood collection. Again, retiring at about 7:30pm to refresh yourselves, you will then join us on the Verandah for evening cocktails and a candlelit seafood dinner overlooking Hawke's Bay.

3 -- A Traditional Kiwi Barbeque
You will accompany our Chef into the paddocks and sheep stations of Hawke’s Bay producers where you will learn about animal rearing and meat preparation in the morning. You will select your favourite cuts of lamb, beef, ostrich, venison, or chicken from the producers. You will then spend the afternoon in the kitchen and around the Barbeque. We will make our own sausages and learn to barbeque different cuts of meat and more...resulting in a very sophisticated meal enjoyed in the evening at Sunset.
