3 Nights Poets Corner Lodge – Waihi

Poets Corner Lodge is a luxury boutique lodge with amazing coastal views. The Lodge offers four super/king rooms with ensuites, large lounge/dinning and full kitchen. Day 1 (D)
Arrive at Poets Corner Lodge. Relax in the spectacular surroundings before enjoying an evening meal at Poets Corner Lodge.

Day 2 - Harley Davidson Bay of Plenty Tour (B,L)
After a delicious breakfast you will be picked up from Poets Corner Lodge by Harley Tours.

This tour starts heading down state highway 2 to the town of Tauranga, through the kiwi fruit growing area, with the Kamai mountain ranges on your right with their thick native bush, and the ocean to your left with magnificent views out as far as WhiteIsland on a clear day. We continue riding this route until Whakatane, with stunning beach and ocean views on the left and mountain views on the right.

We then turn inland to towards Rotorua, and approach this geo-thermal wonderland by come in via the RotoruaLakes – a truly stunning area to ride through with bush clad hills and stunning blue lakes.

Once in Rotorua we visit Te Puia Geothermal Springs to wonder at their amazing geothermal activity and boiling mud pools and have some lunch.

Then its back on the bikes as we head back towards home, taking the route home via the Kaimai Mountain Run – which is the other side of the mountains backbone to the route taken on the way to Rotorua. This is a wonderful ride along the straight roads at the base of the mountain, with the mountains rearing up on your right hand side and the flat Waikato farmlands on the left. The beauty of the Waiwere Falls is not to be missed – a wonderful sight when they are in full flow. This then brings us back through the Karangahake Gorge as we head to Waihi, an amazing gorge to ride through on the bikes!

Day 3 - Mount & City Tour (B)
Spend the day exploring Waihi, Tauranga & Mt Maunganui.

After a delicious breakfast at Poets Corner Lodge travel into Waihi and start the day with a mine tour. Waihi is a gold mining town with an active open cast mine right in the middle of town. Learn about Waihi’s rich mining history and mining today.

The Bay of Plenty's arts and crafts culture has been growing strong in the past few years. Take some time to browse through art markets, local shops or artists' studios to learn about the local art on offer.

There are many specialty food outlets, restaurants and cafes to tempt your taste buds. A visit to the Prenzel Heaven Tasting room in Tauranga is a must.

Day 4 (B)
After a delicious breakfast it is time to bid you farewell and continue on your journey.

Be picked up by helicopter from Poets Corner Lodge for an exciting day tour to New Zealand’s most unusual Volcano, “TUHUA’ (MayorIsland) Our ½ day guided tramping tour through one of New Zealand’s largest Pohutukawa forests.

Reon, the guide will take you to the Devils Staircase, The stronghold where tribe would defend the island in battle.Then visit the “Big Tree” this massive pohutukawa specimen has a girth exceeding 11 meters and is regarded as one of New Zealand’s biggest and oldest Pohutukawa trees.

You will see and hear many of our native birds including nectar-feeding bellbirds and tui, wood pigeons, morepork, fantail, kaka (brown parrot), grey warbler, waxeye, kingfisher and, soaring on the thermals, the harrier hawk. The island is also home to the Kiwi bird. A Bird watchers paradise.
