The Okahu Valley serves as a haven for those seeking sanctuary from a cluttered age of high technology and fast talkers. There are no crowds and it's the perfect retreat for nature lovers or photographers or those simply wanting an escape for a few days.
Day 1: Travel by mini coach from Taupo or Rotorua
Visit the Department of Conservation interpretive centre before embraking on a easy 5 hour trek to Robert Collins Nature Camp enjoying lunch along the way. You will stay overnight stay in twin share tented accommodation and the camp offers hot showers and flush toilets.
Day 2:
Enjoy a leisurely but stimulating 4-5 hour roundtrip walk to a backcountry hut today on a track graded easy to moderate. Overnight again at Robert Collins Nature Camp.
Day 3:
Today you will trek from camp back to the Okahu Valley Road enjoying flora and fauna interpretation en route. You will then be transported back to Taupo or Rotorua.
Includes: Professional guiding, full catering to include breakfast, morning and afternoon tea, lunch and three course dinner with complimentary wine, return mini coach transport, overnight pack and raingear loan. Three days of interaction with flora and fauna interpretation and two nights in overnight nature camp.
