Enjoy the best of the Abel Tasman National Park and stay in one of the only beachfront lodge accommodations within the boundaries of the park. Sitting on the edge of a golden beach, Torrent Bay Lodge offers modern facilities and an informal atmosphere. Laze on the sundeck or explore Torrent Bay as you wander the sun-drenched beaches or paddle a canoe in the azure waters. After a hearty home cooked meal you are ensured a peaceful nights sleep as you drift to the sound of the waves lapping on the beach.
Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Marahau by 8.15am to meet your Guide and depart on a scenic boat trip to Torrent Bay along the magnificent Abel Tasman granite coast. On arrival at the lodge you may choose to just relax or your guide will give you a full training session and safety briefing before settling you into a double kayak. On the water explore the most scenic kayaking area of the park pausing at a sheltered cove for lunch. On your return journey, if the winds are favourable the kayak sails will be hoisted and you will sail back to Torrent Bay, stopping to view Pinnacle Island seal colony. You may even see some of the Blue Penguins that live here. Back at Torrent Bay Lodge enjoy good company, fine food and wine over dinner.
Day 2: There are numerous options to choose from today. Maybe take a walk to the waterfalls on Falls River or Cleopatra's Pool on the Torrent River. Walk the protected golden beaches of Anchorage and Te Pukatea and visit historic Maori sites at Pitt Head or simply relax and enjoy the beachfront setting.
Day 3: Today you may choose to spend time exploring the fascinating coast around Torrent Bay, follow crystal streams to inland native forests or relax on the golden beach in front of the Lodge. Later in the day, you can choose to walk the final 4 hours of the Coastal Track or catch a water taxi out of the Park to Marahau or Kaiteriteri where you will meet your road transport back to either Motueka or Nelson.
Note: You may also join one of the Guided Walks if you do not want to kayak.
Overnight Lodge Stays include: Meals (dinner, breakfast, picnic lunch), use of daypack, Lodge luggage bag, transfer and storage of luggage, all transfers including scheduled Launch/Water Taxi service operated by Wilsons, track notes, maps.
