The Pampas, located west of Buenos Aires, is one of the largest fertile plains in the world and covers almost one third of Argentina's land area. This is Argentina's breadbasket of fertile land where thousands of cattle are raised each year by pampas gauchos.

San Antonio de Areco, just 2 hours west of Buenos Aires, has for over seventy years been hosting a wildly popular Fiesta de la Tradicion in November. This celebration showcases the country's gaucho traditions in an extravaganza of music, dance and horsemanship.

The pampas, despite their immensity, have an almost uniform climate which is more humid in the northwest and dry elsewhere.  With much sunshine and an average temperature is 18°C, there is a dry season in December, its summer, but generally precipitation levels average 250 to 500 mm per year.
