Best times to go:
Spring from September to October is one of the nicest times to visit Rio when the forests and gardens are lush and beautiful. Summer from October to February is best for diving while the winter months of June to August are the best for surfers. Rio Carnaval is held every year, 7 weeks before Easter Sunday. During this time, and usually the weeks leading up to it, Rio is at its liveliest. However prices can increase dramatically and the city is very crowded so it is worth keeping this in mind when you are planning your stay.

The Spring Months of September and October tend to have the lowest humidity levels. Summer generally lasts through to February and temperatures can reach 40°C, it is also when precipitation levels are at their highest. Winter months still receive pleasant temperatures with cooler evenings averaging 15°C with the wind and dampness making it feel cooler. Rainy days can very unpredictable, they can happen even in the high season. However Rio has plenty of shopping and indoor activities until the sun comes out again.
