Cuenca enjoys a mild climate and a fabulous geographic position. The beauty of its landscape combined with the harmony between old and modern architecture, has prompted UNESCO to name Cuenca a World Cultural Heritage Site.

Best times to go:
Cuenca holds celebrations throughout the year. In early November, churches such as the lovely Santa Domingo celebrate All Souls Day, when locals lay flowers and gifts in cemeteries and light candles in honour of their ancestors. This is followed by the 7-day Festivales de Cuenca, which celebrates Cuenca’s Independence. During which throughout the city you can find concerts, food expos, circuses and craft exhibits take place.

Cuenca enjoys a Mediterranean continental climate with cool winters and mild summers, temperatures range from 4ºC in the winter to 24ºC in the summer although days are generally warm and nights are cooler. The rainy season from mid October to the early May has typically sunny mornings and cloudy afternoons with scattered showers.
