Just one hour’s drive from Cusco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas is home to picturesque communities, impressive terraces and several important archaeological sites.In Inca times, the valley was the bread basket of the Empire and it is still important for agriculture, as farmers plant the same fields that they did in Inca times with the same crops! Its mild weather, beautiful countryside and particular geography make it ideal for outdoor sports.

The best time to visit is in April and May or October and November, when you can avoid the flocks of visitors that arrive during the high season from June to September.

Due to its lower altitude, the Sacred Valley had a warmer climate than that of Cusco and despite reaching high temperatures and being in an area full of vegetation, there are no mosquitoes in the valley. The rainy season is between November and April and heavy rain may fall suddenly at any time, but it has the advantage of being milder. During dry season, the sky is a brilliant blue but the air can be cool and dry, nights are generally cold and it can be freezing at dawn.
