The best time to visit the Southern States would be in spring when many areas are in full bloom or in autumn when the music season is still in full flow. Winters can be chilly and summers are unbearably hot and sticky the further south you go.

In the main the South enjoys pleasant year round conditions with the exception of the colder mountainous areas. Cooler weather in comparison to the sometimes sweltering heat of July and August can be found in May, June, September and October when temperatures average 22-28°C and this is generally the optimum time to travel.
