Travel through some of the prettiest resorts and towns in New England in a relaxed and leisurely style whist staying in beautiful inns and resorts brimming with lots of  character and local traditions. Enjoy a perfect combination of spectacular scenery, fascinating attractions, traditional hospitality and historic charm on this magical self-drive vesting some of New England's most precious gems.
 
Day 1: Boston
On arrival transfer to your hotel. Relax or explore this historical city and wander through lively Quincy Marketplace.
Overnight : Fairmont Copley Plaza.
 
Day 2: Boston - Scarborough
Depart for the Maine coast.Visit Ogunquit, a quaint fishing hamlet and picturesque seaside village - perhaps walk the mile-long MarginalWay, over rocky ocean cliffs, to Perkins Cove or enjoy a mouth-watering lobster lunch. Continue your drive along the scenic coastal route through Kennebunkport to Scarborough.  Approx 114 miles.

Day 3: Scarborough
This morning, take a short drive to Cape Elizabeth and visit Portland Head Light and Museum, located along the pretty shores of Fort Williams Park. The museum is located in the Keeper's quarters, then it's on to Portland, an old seacoast town. When in Portland tour the Old Port Historic District and some of the city's historic homes. Portland is also a funky city filled with galleries, one of a kind boutiques and shops. Later return back to Scarborough for your final night.
 
Day 4: Scarborough- Holderness
Travel west through the Sebago Lakes Region to New Hampshire’s Squam Lake, best known for the film 'On Golden Pond' with Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn.The Manor on Golden Pond, is a fourteen acre estate which includes a host of recreational activities, tennis, croquet, badminton and an over-sized swimming pool and pool cabana on top of Shepherd’s Hill overlooking Squam Lake. Approx 83 miles.

Days 5 & 6: Holderness Area
Discover the sheer beauty of this area and relax on the Manor’s lakeside beach or have fun on the lake in a canoe or paddleboat. Alternatively, simply rest in an Adirondack chair overlooking the lake and mountains. Perhaps visit The Flume, a natural gorge extending 800 feet at the base of Mount Liberty at Franconia Notch, or for an unforgettable experience we suggest taking the Cog Railway to the summit of Mount Washington.
 
Day 7: Holderness - Chittenden
Scenic routes and covered bridges take you into Vermont. See Quechee Gorge,Vermont’s 'Little Grand Canyon', before winding into Woodstock, named 'The Prettiest Small Town in America'. Much effort has made sure the village keeps its pristine historic image. No utility wires appear overhead on downtown streets and your route into Woodstock will either cross a covered bridge, pass a picturesque horse farm or country store, or wind along the scenic Ottauquechee River. Continue to historic Chittenden, located just outside Killington  for a two-night stay. Approx 103 miles.

Day 8: Shelburne and Stowe
We recommend a journey north along Vermont’s scenic roads to visit the Shelburne Museum, one of the nation’s finest, most diverse, and unconventional museums of art and Americana. Perhaps spend time in the charming village of Stowe, at the base of Mt. Mansfield and, in Waterbury, visit Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory for a tasting tour before returning to Arlington.
 
Day 9: Chittenden - Deerfield
Continue along Vermont’s scenic Route 7 toward Williamstown, a quintessential New England village. Arrive into Deerfield for the next two nights at the Deerfield Inn.  Built in 1884, the inn is located in the heart of the 350 year old village of Deerfield. Approx 115 miles.

Day 10: Sturbridge and Stockbridge
Perhaps visit Old Sturbridge Village living history museum to relive 1830’s rural New England life or take a trip through the Berkshires to Stockbridge. Stroll this charming Dickensian-style village and visit the Norman Rockwell Museum, housing the world’s largest and most significant collection of original Rockwell art.
 
Day 11: Deerfield - Sandwich
Depart Deerfield for the coast of Rhode Island. Tour Newport's Ocean Drive and Millionaire's Row to see the magnificent mansions of the Gilded Age. Visit the Breakers, the largest of the Vanderbilt Family homes in Newport. Enjoy lunch overlooking the waterfront and all the splendid yachts and boats before continuing on to Sandwich located on Cape Cod. Approx 207 miles.
2 nights : Belfry Inn.

Day 12: Sandwich - Boston
Today drive along the Cape Cod National Seashore to explore lighthouses, quaint coastal communities, and natural scenic beauty. Visit the lively artist community of Provincetown, take a whale watching trip or just sit back with a book in hand one of one Cape Cod's lovely sandy beaches.
 
Day 13:
Depart Sandwich and head east to Plymouth, Massachusetts, 'America’s hometown'. See Plymouth Rock, upon which the Pilgrims first stepped. Perhaps board a replica of the Mayflower, the ship that carried the Pilgrims to the New World, and visit Plymouth Plantation, a recreated village of 1627, where interpreters bring history to life.After a leisurely waterside lunch, drive to Boston Airport to return your car. Approx 60 miles.
