Day 1 Boston - Rockport, MA 40 miles. Arrive in Boston and collect your car hire. Travel to the charming artisan village of Rockport in Cape Ann, just 30 miles north of Boston. Emerson by the Sea is a charming hotel with 36 rooms that have been beautifully restored to reflect the bygone era of yesteryear. 2 nights: Rockport.
Day 2 Rockport and Surrounds 54 miles. Today you may choose to relax on the beach or take in some of the sights. Visit the neighbouring towns of Marblehead and Salem. Marblehead is best known as the racing yacht capital of the world and on any summer’s day, one can find thousands of sailing yachts in its historic harbour. In Salem, better known as the “witch city”, one can visit the House of the Seven Gables, made famous by the novel of the same name by Nathaniel Hawthorne, or visit the Peabody Museum which houses the largest collection of art and artifacts brought to America during the years of the China Trade. Back in Rockport, stroll amidst the many art galleries along Bearskin Neck.
Day 3 Rockport - Plymouth - Brewster 129 miles. Travel south to the popular resort destination of Cape Cod. En route to your hotel you may want to visit Plymouth, “America’s hometown” where the Pilgrims settled in 1620. See Plymouth Rock, the Mayflower II and take a self-guided tour of Plymouth Plantation, a living history museum recreating life as it was in 1627. Later, continue onto your mid-Cape resort hotel, the Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, offering many amenities including tennis, golf, and a spa. Bikes are available to rent and just a short ride away is the national Seashore and beaches. 4 nights: Cape Cod
Day 4 Brewster - Hyannis - Nantucket 32 miles (excluding ferry to Nantucket). Travel to Hyannis and take the fast ferry to Nantucket. The village centre boasts shops and galleries and the town is a virtual museum of historic homes and churches and it’s quite nice to amble about and soak up the atmosphere. You may also wish to bring your bicycle over and bike along the island’s magnificent beaches, perhaps visit Siasconset, the islands other village, known for its sweet cottages and rambling rose garden.
Days 5 & 6 Cape Cod Take advantage of the many amenities, go to the beach, go for a bike ride, or tour along Cape Cod’s National Seashore. See the site of Marconi Station, where the first wireless, transatlantic communication was made between the US and England in 1903. Visit Provincetown, a lively and unique artist colony. There you can stroll around the shops or take a whale watch cruise.
Day 7 Brewster - Boston 85 miles. Depart Cape Cod this morning and return your car rental in Boston.
